Keyboard shortcuts at a glance

webermap is built for the keyboard from the ground up. Once you know the shortcuts below, you will build mindmaps far faster than with a mouse.

Adding nodes

• Tab – add a child node (one level deeper)
• Enter – add a sibling node (same level)
• Shift+Tab – outdent a node one level (move it left)

This builds a hierarchy without a single mouse click: Tab goes deeper, Enter stays on the level, Shift+Tab steps back out.

Navigating

• Arrow keys – move between nodes (up, down, left, right)
• Esc – deselect and leave edit mode

Esc lets you exit edit mode at any time without losing your input. From there, move freely through the map with the arrow keys.

Editing

• Enter (on a selected node) – start editing
• Double-click – start editing
• Backspace – delete the selected node and its children

Tips for a smooth workflow

1. Start with the root node and type right away.
2. Alternate Tab and Enter to capture lists and sub-points quickly.
3. If you lose your place, press Esc and navigate back with the arrow keys.
4. Structure first, phrase later: capture the nodes now, refine the wording afterwards.
